Where To Have Your Birthday Dinner in SF

(By Max Child & Taylor Abrams; Reposted from The Infatuation)

Do you hear that? It’s the winds of time, and you’re now a year older. But don’t mourn. Celebrate. Birthdays are the best reasons to get your crew together to eat, drink, and carry on like you’re on senior spring break and your most pressing concern is your SAT II Writing score.
If you’re planning a birthday for yourself or a friend, any one of these spots is a great choice. Drink all the drinks and forget your age. It’s only a number.

Don Pisto’s

DP’s is a perfect option for brunch birthdays – with the bottomless drinks and huevos rancheros game coming in strong. The downstairs area is also a fun time for a birthday dinner, provided you are cool with a lot of yelling. We like this place a lot.
510 Union St.

Southern Pacific

Southern PacificProbably the best option for a big gathering that’s chill and doesn’t need assigned seats. The food is standard bar food for sharing, with the exception of the cinnamon churros with bacon. Seven orders for the birthday boy/girl.
620 Treat Ave.

Hawker Fare

Hawker FareWord of endorsement: one of us did in fact have his birthday here. On a whim! There’s no point in preparing to get older, just wander in to Hawker Fare and begin consuming tiki drinks and Thai delights.
680 Valencia St.

DelfinaDelfinaIf you’re going for serious Italian birthday eats, this is the perfect choice. It’s hard to argue with spaghetti, linguine, roast chicken, and the other favorites from your childhood, executed competently. Red wine has never done wrong to a person growing older, either.
3621 18th St.

Californios

Californios San FranciscoWant to feel like a BALLER on your birthday? Want it to feel like a real occasion that you can only share with your closest friends? We recommend Californios, the coolest/most delicious tasting menu in town. If your companions know what’s what, they’ll cover your meal.
3115 22nd St.

Zero Zero

zerozeroZero Zero is optimally engineered to deliver cocktails, pizza, and soft serve to your bloodstream. We can’t imagine a more perfect combination for a birthday meal. If you’re on the second floor, you can look down on all the peons who aren’t celebrating the inexorable march towards death.
826 Folsom St.

Lolo

loloThe bright walls and flashy decor in Lolo already look like a sea of presents and wrapping paper, so you’ll know from the second you walk in, that it’s going to be worthy of celebrating your birth. They take reservations for up to five people via OpenTable, but if you call you can usually work out a bigger group. Olé.
974 Valencia St.

Bar Bocce

barbocceAmbitious? Maybe. But getting your crew out of the city for an afternoon of bocce and beers and towers of surprisingly awesome pizza in Sausalito is a strong move. Sit by the “seawall,” amass enough people for a hostile takeover of the fire pits, or rent out the whole place – the choice is yours. Either way, you will have a very, very good time.
250 Bridgeway, Sausalito

Burma Love

Burma LoveWant to introduce people to a style of food that they might not be used to? Burma Love is the perfect package for the excellence of the artist currently known as Myanmar. Tea Leaf salad, chicken with mint, and skillet shrimp for all.
211 Valencia St.

Gamine

GamineNice, authentic, non-stuffy French food on the far end of Union Street, Gamine is something of a hidden gem. The wine flows like water and the petit filet is everything you need. You can book the private upstairs room for up to ten people, and we would highly recommend you do so.
2223 Union St.

Mission Bowling

Mission BowlingBowling! Drinks! Burgers! High-ABV beers! Sounds like a recipe for a broken toe, and/or an awesome birthday festival.
3176 17th St.

Leopold’s

There are few things as joyful as a table full of humans drinking beer from a glass boot and eating pretzels and sausage. Probably the best thing to come out of Germany….ever. Leopold’s doesn’t take reservations, but for a group bigger than 10 they’ll help you figure out the best way to get a table and a group menu. You probably won’t remember dinner, but you will have had a wonderful time.
2400 Polk St.

Foreign Cinema

One of the coolest restaurants in the game. The patio, the giant foreign film screen, the night air, the fried chicken…it’s hard to have a bad time at Foreign Cinema. And they can often accommodate a large group, because they have some space! (A novel concept in SF.) A great choice for b-day action.
2534 Mission St.

Tacolicious

Tacolicious Chicken MoleWhile there’s some debate at Infatuation HQ over the merits of Tacolicious, it is unquestionably a great option for a large group to consume pitchers of margarita and taco meat. In other words, it’s absolutely perfect for your millennial celebration.
2031 Chestnut St.
